Sucker Punch
Monday, April 18, 2011 at 4:29PM In 2009 director Zach Snyder invited our crew to become a part of the Warner Brothers production of Sucker Punch. This meant five months being embedded with the Vancouver based crew (it's a hard-knock life!) While on location we scanned and HDR photographed nearly every set, prop, vehicle, actor, and costume so that D.J. Desjardin and his VFX team could use the data we collected as reference during the VFX phase of production.
Lidar detailed using our new voxelization techniques allows for thin wires and branches to be preservedThe production went long enough that we saw our equipment evolve starting from Trimble lidar to Leica/phase, and towards the end of production the incredible Surphaser scanner.
